Komodo Cruise Highlights: The Pink Beach

Just like the name, Pink beach is literally having beautiful pink sand in the shores. This beach in Komodo island is actually not the only beach with pink sands in Indonesia. However, it is the most famous one and arguably the most beautiful one as well. And this is one of the most requested Komodo cruise destinations!

So let’s ask the real question, how exactly is the sand have pink-colored? The real suspect of this phenomenon is a red microscopic amoeba called Foraminifera. This tiny animal has inhabited the seas around Komodo and lives in the corals.

Throughout time, the corals will be swept by the current into the shore and perished. It turns into dust and crystals with red colors, which the Foraminifera brought. This red coral dust ended up mixed with the white sand, resulting in a pink color.

A magical nature phenomenon creates pink sand!
