Best Scuba Diving Cautions to Be Aware of for Beginners

For most beginners, scuba diving feels very exciting and intriguing. Almost addicting, sometimes. It’s like discovering a whole new world you’ve never known before. Developing whole new skills you never know you are capable of. Learning to dive, although could be a bit exhausting, promise a very rewarding discovery once you get to the open sea. As a rookie, however, there are several cautions you need to really pay attention to. Failure to notice these health and safety caution could cause fatal consequences.

Best Scuba Diving Cautions to Be Aware of for Beginners

Most Fatal Scuba Diving Beginners Mistake: Equipment Fault

Failure of equipment could cause death for divers. Damaged diving gears include regulator malfunctioning, broken compass, equipment that leaked air, broken buckets, and many more. Practice good reading of scuba diving equipment since beginners—and remember to never underestimate it once you become a pro.

The Risk of Loose Regulator

Regulator recovery is probably the best first-aid to teach for scuba diving for beginners. It’s the device that would help you to keep breathing underwater. Proper handling of regulator is very important to learn, especially as regulator could get knocked out of your mouth. While this is a common thing for a pro, beginners could get a lot of stress with this problem. Sometimes, regulator mouthpiece even got snagged on your BCD, putting more stress to the situation. It’s very important to practice recovery. During scuba lessons, make sure you learn how to kneel at steady platform (the pool floor or sea bed), reaching your back and calmly locating the mouthpiece, and recovering the regulator. It may seem simple, but the impact could be totally fatal!

Never Dive with Cold or Sinus Infections

How does your body feel when you get cold? Worst. Should you continue to dive when you catch cold? Absolutely not. This is one of most frequent question coming from beginner divers, and the one you should always obey. Never attempt to dive when your nose is either blocked or runny. Cold and sinus cause swelling and congestion in your upper respiratory pathways. It blocks your eustachian tubes and sinus opening, which cause difficulties for your body to equalise the pressure between the middle ears and sinuses. When your body cannot equalise the pressure properly, diving could pose a rick of ear pain and hearing loss, tinnitus, nausea, facial pain, and even nose bleeds. While you have cold, don’t dive. It’s just not worth the sacrifice.

Time to Rest Between Flying and Diving

One of the most common beginner mistakes on scuba diving: not having enough time between diving to flying. While diving after flying is generally okay (we still recommend a day break, though), flying after diving is dangerous. Flying right after diving session could be fatal as you have too much nitrogen on your tissue. Have sometime to let off the nitrogen build up in your body. If you just did one singe non-decompression dive, you could wait at least 12 hours before flying. But if you just got back from series of non-decompressor dives in a row, like a liveaboard diving trip, wait at least 18 hours before boarding the plane. If you are not in hurry, we recommend an entire 24 hours rest for maximum nitrogen let off.

Don’t Bring Dive Camera on First Few Dives

The best thing that happened for scuba diving for beginners is probably the opportunity to photograph life under the water. The crabs, the nudibranchs, the colourful corals, and mesmerising school of fishes. However, diving with underwater camera is not the best idea to bring with in your first few dives. Camera could potentially get you distracted as you are adjusting the composition and playing with the buttons. Before you know it, you are intentionally ascending! Stick with adaptation and practicing the best diving techniques while you’re still on the learn.

Protecting the Ocean on Scuba Diving Vacation for Beginners

When you are new into diving, you might put larger portion of your focus to basic diving techniques, adjusting to the newly discovered underwater environment, and mainly surviving your first dives in the open ocean. You might not be entirely familiar with rules and manners underwater. Firsts scuba diving experiences could be entirely overwhelming for beginners. Everything is happening at once, everywhere you go there’s beautiful coral garden brimming with school of fishes. In the midst of this alluring beauty, it’s easy to feel complacent and accidentally harming the marine wildlife in the process. Don’t be a foolish diver. Here’s what you need to do.

See Everything, Touch Nothing

When you dive to the ocean, you are a guest. The wildlife is the host. Be a good guest by never touching anything you have in sight. Your dive operators should inform this to every session of scuba diving for beginners. Never touch fishes as you could potentially break the slimy mucus on their body. Marine animals need it to protect them from infections and help them deter from predators. Never pick up ANY animals just to take a closer look at it. And yes, that’s include holding that cute starfish. Under any circumstances, do not ride animal—turtles has been a victim of this abuse for so many times. Never, ever, snap a branch of coral reefs. No token should be taken from the sea!

Avoid Entry and Exit Points Over Shallow Coral Reefs

On scuba diving for beginners lessons, you learned a lot about techniques of entering and exiting waters. While most of your time is devoted on practicing the right techniques, many beginners are unaware of the surroundings. You see, enter and exit points should never be done over shallow coral reefs. Corals are very delicate and a minor sweep from your fins could damage their bodies. They need years to recover!

Scuba Diving for Beginners Should Watch Where to Adjust Equipments

Choosing a coral-packed diving destinations is actually risky. You get impressive sceneries to enrich your diving experience, but you potentially harm the natural surrounding. Some of new divers even go as far as standing on top of corals where they are resting or adjusting something. That’s a big no-no! For the love of Poseidon, please avoid coral-dense sites if you can’t control your buoyancy yet. Even stray fins could stir up sands on the seabeds, causing serious blocking that renders corals to get on sunlight. Without sunlight, it’s hard for corals to survive. Beginners should be advised to be entirely comfortable with their equipment so they don’t cause unwanted accidents. If you need to adjust something, go up to the deck or the ship before going back to the water again.

Avoid the Temptation of Feeding the Fish

This is the hardest temptation of scuba diving holidays for beginners. As someone entirely new to diving, it’s natural if you want to draw the attention of the fishes. However, many people do it the wrong way. Even the dive masters themselves. Irresponsible divers try to lure fishes by bringing some fish food/ baits. This could discourage fishes from performing their natural purposes; e.g, cleaning algae from coral reefs/ dead skin of big fishes.

Try Your Best to Not Cause Disturbance

Marine animals are, essentially, just like other animals. They could get stressed from human’s natural disturbances and get sick as consequences. Make sure your dive operators are taking divers in small group. Don’t get too close to fishes. Adjust the brightness of camera’s flash that can stress out delicate creatures such as pygmy seahorses.

Cheap Surf Charters: 3 Step to Get Affordable Experience

Surf charters are what you will need when you are thinking about the luxury and more comfortable adventure in surfing. But, starting to experience one can spend more of your travel budget since it is involving the boat as well as the onboard services along with all crews and facilities. Surf charters will mostly allowing you to spend times in the ocean and you are not actually need to have the luxury settings of the boat you are going to charter. Your body will be salty enough and that’s really not a great match to luxurious trip.

Choosing the Best Villas in Seminyak for Vacation Rental

I won’t talk about why you need to stay at Seminyak village while you are in Bali. Instead, I will referring you which one and how to choose the best villas in Seminyak for your vacation rental. If you think that you won’t need my tips in that, you are free to leave. But as I have been experienced in staying in a villa as well, I think what I have been through before can be the worthy to be shared with you.

Things to do and what to concern about when choosing the best villas in Seminyak

I am telling you that because the first thing you have to know is you are possible to get the vacation rental such as the best villas in Seminyak even for the beachfront or even the ocean view one.

So, the one that you are looking for can be closer to the beach that you may have never thought before.

Things to consider when choosing the best villas in Seminyak

The next thing you have to considering about is how much you are desiring on staying and adapting to the crowd environment ever since Seminyak itself is getting more well-known now since the past recent years. If you are thinking that it will be not a problem at all, then you are good to go. But let me tell you something that Seminyak itself has also became a destination where the families from around the world are spending their vacation.

So if you are requiring the family-friendly environment, you have just found a place for that.

Next, I want to talk about the private pool. Mostly, you’ll get that even though you have to ensure that a villa you are going to rent is has it. And while you are doing that, I am suggesting you to get a private pool that is located behind or side of the villa.

I am done staying in a villa that has the pool in front of it since you will really disturbed by the vehicle sounds and those who are walking here and there. It isn’t comfortable at all.

Even though the villa has been surrounded by quiet high wall, still, I can’t really enjoy the silent moment.

If you are wealthy enough, I think you won’t need my tips at all. But if you think that you should save the money on it, you can actually stop at hu’u Villas Bali where the villas are offering various bedrooms and prices and I think many of them are quiet affordable than the others. I mean, you can stay in a luxury villa without need to worry about the money you are bringing.

The Good and Bad of Sailing in Komodo Cruise

Komodo cruise is arguably one of travelers’ favourite to experience the Komodo National Park. Hidden from modern civilisation in remote frontier, the national park is comprised by chains of small islands in which traveler absolutely need a boat to roam around. However, Komodo has a lot of boat options and it’s not limited to cruisers. From fisherman boats, budget liveaboard, to luxurious phinisi, you have it all. Of course, cruisers sits on top choice, and here are pros and cons of renting a cruise in Komodo.

But before we get in-depth to the two sides of the coins, it’s better to know that cruisers in Komodo are nothing like 2,000 passengers mega-cruisers just like the Caribbean ocean liners with built in gym, five dining restaurant, a mall, casino bar, and tennis court. Cruise ships here refers to luxurious phinisi (Indonesian traditional schooner) boat and tend to carry smaller number of passengers than budget liveaboard boats. Most of them are entirely built on wood, adding a novel charm to the sailing experience.

The Good and Bad of Sailing in Komodo Cruise

The Good of Sailing in Komodo Cruise

Stability

Most of cruisers in Komodo are built in 20 to 40 m long and that gives them stability to navigate in Komodo’s waters. Their bodies are made to withstand even the roughest sea tides. In normal condition, you won’t feel the sea as much as it would be in smaller boats.

Intimate Onboard Experience

Most Komodo cruise takes no more than 12 – 16 passengers onboard, which means you will have plenty of chance to get to know them better over the course of your cruise. Plus, small number of passengers means that you will get more attention from the crews and the captains. This will make your cruising experience feel much friendlier.

Bigger and Comfortable Cabins

Space are a luxurious thing when it comes to a vehicle, and cruisers are a good example of it. The more luxurious a ship is, the more spacious it would be. Cabins on a Komodo cruise are mostly roomy and well equipped with hotel-standard facilities.

Spacious Social Areas and Complete Amenities

Despite of not having indoor gym and tennis court, a lot of cruises in Komodo still have upscale lounge, an ample dining room, sun decks, and even a sky restaurant.

The Bad Side of Sailing in Komodo Cruise

Giving Up Phone Signals

Not all ships provides wifi and when it does, the connection won’t be as stable as you would be on the land. This drawback is not exclusive to Komodo cruise, however. The lost of signals should be a common logic when you are sailing in the middle of the sea.

Pricey Tags

With the facility, come the price tags. Of course, these cruisers fall on the pricier side than other selection of boats in Komodo. The standard rate to cruise range from 1500 to 7500 USD per day with usually minimum booking of three days. In peak season like Christmas and New Year, price could surge up—so better avoid these dates.

Fewer Selection of Cruisers

If you don’t want to spend a lot of time browsing through two dozens of boat options, this could be an advantage. The majority of boats in Komodo are budget and medium-priced liveaboard boats—there’s only several big phinisi in Komodo.
